This year, his celebrating started the day before his birthday when they had a party for him at daycare. He helped make banana bread muffins with chocolate chips to share with his friends and was pumped to bring an UNO card game to play.
We started his actual day with breakfast in bed.
Then, he donated one of his favorite books to his preschool class (but declined to have a birthday crown or badge!). He seemed pretty excited that they read it for story time. After work and school we went to dinner at The Malt Shop. It was delicious and Dax was super happy with his chocolate malt for dessert!
Before bed, we looked at a book of baby pictures and reminisced about him as a tiny little bug.
The next day, we had Dax's parties. His friend "party" was a special play date with his best buddy Patrick. They got donuts and ran around like maniacs at Jumps and Downs. I don't think Dax has ever smiled so much. It was really sweet to see how much fun they have together!
That evening we celebrated with family. Dax requested ice cream sundaes in lieu of cake so we made it happen. He had so much fun and we loved seeing lots of people who truly love our little boy.
His weekend celebrating ended Sunday with a birthday song and putting his 4 birthday pennies into the bank at Faith Trek (Sunday school). He was beaming the whole time!
Thanks to everyone who helped make Dax's birthday special! He's bummed it's over and we are still shaking our heads wondering how 4 years could possibly have passed since that sweet boy came into our lives and made everything infinitely better.
