We are loving life with sweet Addy. At her two week well check (which we did a little early), she was back to her birth weight and Dr. Oie confirmed that she is perfect. She measured in the 70th percentile for weight at 8 pounds 2 ounces, 50th percentile for height at 20 inches and 75th percentile for head circumference at 14 inches.

She has changed our world for the better and it is hard to remember our life before she was a part of it.

Brotherly Love

Dax is such a sweet big brother. He has been a little out of sorts with less Mommy and Daddy time, but is loving his time with Addy. He gives her kisses, snuggles, asks to hold her often, and likes to interact and play with her. One of the days I dropped him off at daycare there were a few tears - not because I was leaving, but because Addy couldn't stay. We are so thankful for the relationship they are already building and excited to see their bond continue as they grow.

Family of 4

After surpassing the due date once again, I was finally starting to feel ready to not be pregnant anymore. I was enjoying Dax, loving every kick and movement, and savoring the final moments of pregnancy, yet was also getting pretty uncomfortable and anxious to meet our little lady. Luckily she didn't make us wait too long.

At 3:27 on Wednesday, September 17, Adelaide Harriet Schulz made her appearance! Weighing in at 8 pounds, 1 ounce and 20 inches long, she stole our hearts and continues to completely perfect our family.

Dax is taking this big change in stride and likes her more than he doesn't. Jake and I are a little sleep deprived, but could not be happier.

Fall Festivals

Apparently the weekend after labor day is the weekend for fall festivals in our area. Or at least the kickoff :) We skipped several on our list, but managed to enjoy a couple of special events this weekend. The sunshine and cooler temperatures made the perfect combination for our outdoor play!

In keeping with tradition (both from my childhood and Dax's short life) we visited the St. Bonaventure carnival. Dax enjoyed the games and showed a little independence on an inflatable obstacle course. There was also a fire truck and he was thrilled to look closely at all of the tools and features.

It was also rally Sunday at church this weekend. We opted to join Grandpa and Grandma Olson at Oak Grove's outdoor service and celebration. It's always special to worship under the sun and upon finishing the last song, Dax immediately inquired, "Is it time for the carnival now?!" Needless to say, the grilled food, petting zoo, and games were a hit again.

This weekend's kickoff to fall events made us excited for some of the other things this beautiful season has to offer!

38 Weeks

We will likely meet our little girl in less than two weeks. Crazy! I am to the point in pregnancy where strangers consistently ask when I'm due and often add something like, "I bet you're very ready!" Emotionally we have been eager to meet Baby Girl since we learned she was entering our lives (though if you read the last post, I am still fighting a little sadness about rocking Dax's world!), mentally we'll likely never be totally prepared for life with two, and physically we're getting there.

38 weeks - tired, a bit uncomfortable, but still happy and healthy!

We checked a few more things off the to-do list: the bassinet is clean and set up in our room, Dax's car seat no longer has prime middle real estate and her bases are in both cars, the car seat is clean and by the door, I got some little treats ready for the hospital staff who help us during our stay, the house is relatively clean and organized, we completed a few more things in the nursery, and I prepared 11 meals for our freezer to make it easy once we're home and tired. Whew! After a productive couple of weeks, the list is finally feeling short!

This week's doctor appointment was short and sweet. Her heartbeat was looking good at around 150, still dilated 1 cm (same as the last couple of weeks), and we are just waiting for the day she decides to make her arrival!
