St. Paul Saints

Jake was given tickets to see the St. Paul Saints for his birthday and we decided to go Memorial Day weekend since the game started a bit earlier than most. Unfortunately, we picked a super rainy day, but that couldn't stop us from having fun!

We donned some extra gear and headed over to the new stadium. The game was delayed due to the weather so we had some time to explore and get some yummy stadium food for dinner. Though Dax was ready to head home partway through the first inning, we stuck it out for awhile and cheered on the Saints through a game that they ended up winning. We are excited to go back!

8 months

Eight months?! Where is the time going? Our little girl continues to change on a seemingly daily basis and every second with Adelaide is just fun. She is social, stubborn, curious, playful, easygoing, happy, and seriously loveable.

Addy loves food! She continues to gobble up all of the fruits and veggies we serve her. She does great with cottage cheese now, enjoys yogurt, and likes to play with baby puffs and teething wafers, though she doesn't eat much of them. Her biggest triumph in the food department this month was eggs. We gave her some small bits of them scrambled and she enjoyed it! We're excited to continue introducing new textures and extending her palate.

Adelaide has also made some major growth in her gross motor skills over the past month. After many weeks of using the walker as a place to stand, she is now on the move. She can't turn yet, doesn't move very quickly, and isn't perfect at stepping one foot at a time, but she's happy with the limited mobility it allows. Addy is also getting more balanced when she stands and loves looking out the window or just holding onto our hands. She will sometimes take a few steps with our help.

Soon she'll be mobile on her own, though. Addy is almost as happy on her tummy as she is sitting up and will spend a lot of time pushing up. She has even started lifting her little booty and spending a few seconds in crawling position. Her attempts usually push her back a bit if anything, but she's making progress.

Although sitting is nothing new, Ads is sitting in new places and trying new tricks. We transitioned the double stroller to it's sit and stand version so Dax can hop on and off as he pleases when we're out and about, which gives Addy the front seat. She is thrilled to be able to look around while we walk. We also ditched the car seat when we're shopping and she enjoys her view from the cart. We're still working on getting her not to suck on the handle (gross!). At home, she likes to dance and show us how big she is.

This month has had quite a bit of nice weather and Adelaide is so happy to be outside. She loves to go on walks, loves the park, and even tried swinging for the first time. It's hard to find much she doesn't like when we're outdoors.

More activity and more outside play necessitate more baths as well. We're trying to start doing it as part of Addy's night routine just like it is with Dax and sometimes that has meant bathing with her big bro. Our social girl couldn't have been happier about that and Dax thought it was pretty fun, too.

Happy 8 month birthday sweet girl! You light up our lives in so many ways.

Green thumb

The gardening gene must be one of those that skips a generation. Dax and Addy have grandparents on both sides who are avid gardeners with beautiful yards and parents who are just grateful for low maintenance perennials to keep the yard looking decent. We don't yet know what Addy's interests will be, but Dax is definitely enthusiastic.

At daycare they planted some bean seeds in ziploc baggies and hung them on the window to watch them grow. After a few days, we brought Dax's home and transplanted them into a pot to give them more room to sprout. It was exciting to watch them grow (and he thought it was SO cool that the plants would curve toward the window every time we turned the pot)! They were quickly outgrowing that space, though, so we decided to move them to Grandpa Phil and Grandma Caren's garden.

Dax also got a carrot pop for Easter from his Auntie Cree so they added that, too.

And, Grandma Caren had taken Dax shopping at Gertens to pick out some other veggies to plant.

It was fun to get it started and we cannot wait to check on his plants when we visit (and to eat some of the yummy vegetables that grow!).
