Two

Adelaide is officially 2. Two! How is it possible, you ask? I have no idea.

She's inquisitive, independent, hilarious, loving, feisty, and oh so sweet. We loved celebrating our spunky little girl!

Her celebrating started the morning of her birthday with pancakes (Daddy couldn't resist Addy's request!) and a couple of presents.

Her new desk!

Silly girl
Playing with her new baby crib

Handmade card from Dax - a few days before her birthday he decided he wanted to make something for her so he went wild with our art cart and created it completely on his own.
He loved helping her open presents
And after Adelaide got a new desk, he made one for himself!
We continued that afternoon with a luau at our house with some family. It was a fun party, but the best part by far was to just see the joy that it brought to Ads. She is one happy girl.

Watching her guests leave
New toys are so fun!
Yum!
She had a little trouble blowing out her candle, but got it eventually!

This girl LOVES musical cards

Testing out the decorations pre-party
Our sweet nanny, Penny, stopped over in the morning to give Addy a present
Reading her birth story early in the day

Adelaide Harriet, we love you so much! You bring so many smiles and laughs to our family and we are incredibly lucky that we get to spend our days with you.

Preschool

Dax started his second year of preschool at a new school this year. We thought finding something that had full day options would provide an easier transition year for him before full time full days in kindergarten.

We had the opportunity to visit the school and meet his teacher before the actual first day and Dax loved everything about it!

He was still a little nervous the night before school officially started so we sprinkled some "ready confetti" under his pillow.

It seemed to work because he woke up SO excited!

He confidently walked right out of the car and up to the door by himself. We were so proud!!

We were also thrilled to hear all of the details that he shared after. He was happy to have made new friends, played with lots of the materials available at school, and to have been the leader for the weather part of his class calendar time and the snack helper. It was an AMAZING start to his year and we cannot wait to see his growth and learning as a preschooler.

End of Summer

Summer flew by even faster than usual this year. We enjoyed it up until the last second...

We spent some time at home playing,

And lots of time out and about:

A few weeks before back to school workshop week, Dax and Addy came to help me start getting my classroom set up. Their favorite part was the playground!

We also took a trip to the zoo with cousins Maddy, Noah, and Owen.

After receiving point card coupons, we visited Nickelodeon Universe for a couple of rides. Then we stopped at Barnes and Noble for a little bonus play time. It was a blast!

The next day we headed out to the State Fair for more rides, tasty food, and lots of fun!

On our last weekday together prior to school starting, Dax, Addy and I went to Richardson Nature Center. We checked out one of the marsh exploration buckets, played in the natural play area, and had a picnic lunch. It was the perfect way to end our summer together.
