Can You Canoe?

Dax spent a lot of time this week singing Okee Dokee Brothers music. While that's not atypical, this time it was because we were up at a cabin and the world around us was reminding him of his favorite music. How can you not think of Rosita the Skeeter while being eaten alive? :)

It was the annual Schulz family vacation and 21 of us ventured up to Black Pine Beach Resort on Pig Lake near Nisswa. We could not have asked for better weather, the cabin was amazing, the lake was gorgeous, and Dax was totally in his element.

We visited the resort's secret garden, played at the cabin and the playground, had a fiercely competitive volleyball game, and Dax had his first s'more. While we didn't spend much time in the lake (Dax was not a fan of the cold lake water), we were often near or on the water. We are looking forward to our next "camping" experience after such a successful first!

(still) Summer!

Our summer is fading fast. Dax's naptimes have transitioned from my relaxing and cleaning time to schoolwork prep time (so much for my dream of going back to school with a clean house, ha!). Even though it is August and this special time is quickly coming to a close, Dax and I are still making the most of the time we do have. Check out some of the fun we have had the past couple of weeks:

We visited Wood Lake Nature Center. Dax loved all of the live and stuffed animals inside and enjoyed dancing on the stage outside.

Looking at the turtles
The turkeys in our yard run away from Dax so he loved this close-up view
One of the snakes shed it's skin while we were there
And then it was ready to play!

We have spent LOTS of time outside.

Bubbles are so fun!
Trying to pop it with his nose
Sliding with Daddy
Every once in awhile he'll still stop for a snuggle :)
Loving the digger at Chutes and Ladders
Still figuring out how to use a ladder

Rolling down the hill with Grandpa at Mommy and Daddy's soccer game

This is more fun!

Peek-a-boo!
Playing with the nearby loaders

He insisted on wearing the helmet- I suppose we can't start practicing safety too soon!
Dax helped Mommy with some school shopping.

And we visited the MN Landscape Arboretum.

Looking at tadpoles - some of them were growing legs!
I couldn't resist adding a flashback to last summer at the arboretum!

Go Twins!

We went to the Twins game tonight and it was Dax's first pro baseball experience. We had so much fun!

We met pitcher Casey Fien on the way in so Dax got his first signature at his first game!
Obligatory glove shot
First look at the field
Hat day at Target Field
Dax enjoyed a hot dog with Daddy
Showing the players how to "throw it!"
Our view
Loving it
In true toddler fashion, Dax explored many corners of the stadium
While we were on our lap around the stadium, Dax was getting really into it:

He thought it was so crazy when a dragonfly landed on my hat.
And we ended our trip to the game saying, "Bye bye" to Rod Carew. Dax was terrified.
We'll have to go to another game sometime soon!
