10 Months

Somehow Adelaide is 10 months old. I think the months are flying by even faster now that it's summer and I cannot believe how close we are to having a one year old. Where did our baby go?!

Occasionally we are literally asking ourselves that question now, too, because sweet Ads is on the move. She has not quite mastered crawling, but she can go anywhere she wants. She has a little booty scoot and sometimes gets one or both legs in on the action. It's pretty funny to watch, but very effective and she can cross a room to anything she wants in a few seconds flat. She can also sit up from her tummy, has built up her stamina for walking around while holding our hands, and enjoys cruising around in her walker.

This squirmy girl loves to move around in the cart while we're shopping
We put this toy up on it's legs so she enjoys it from a new perspective now
Silly girl scooted backwards for awhile before she mastered her crawl
It's easier to get into stuff when you're on the move!

She continues to eat anything we serve her, but has developed a new habit of throwing food on the floor. We're not yet sure if she tosses the food she doesn't like as much, tries to clear her tray when she's full, or simply likes the new game, but we're hoping it's a short phase.

Addy had (and enjoyed!) her first taste of pancakes this month
A little more freedom to feed herself also make bigger messes
Silly girl!
Addy is also constantly becoming more interactive and vocal. She imitates us regularly and though she doesn't say many words, her tone and sounds match ours well and she is trying so hard to talk. She waves hello and goodbye, pretends to eat food both while playing with toy food and whenever she's looking for interaction (because she knows I'll do it back to her!), tips over when we sing I'm a Little Teapot, and brings us so much joy. When we are at library events, music class, or other group activities, she always claps along with the group and it is so cute!

It is fun to see how her play has changed over the past few weeks as well. Addy LOVES to put things in and take things out of containers, dances if any type of music starts playing, if she has two toys she spends most of her time banging them together, she will initiate peek-a-boo and giggle through the game, and she enjoys flipping through books. She still tends to find Dax's toys that are too small for her and will try to eat anything and everything within her reach. This has led to us also noticing her asserting her opinion because she has started to complain when we take things away. Luckily, she's easily distracted by a new toy.

Addy loves the pool way more than Dax ever did or even still does

Adelaide's sweetest new development is kissing. It's always fun to get a little love back from your kids!

Check out our growing girl! (Dax has taken charge of our old camera and got in on the photography this month)

Independence Day

Our 4th of July holiday was great this year! Lots of family time, special activities, and red, white, and blue to celebrate our country. Dax enjoyed Bloomington's Summer Fete fireworks and Eagan's parade, while Addy had to settle for driveway firecrackers and family parties. Both loved all the fun!

Jesus Loves You

Tonight while nursing Adelaide before bed, her bedroom door opened slowly and I saw my fresh-from-the-bath, pajama-clad firstborn sneak in. Dax silently walked over to the chair where Addy and I snuggled, drew a cross on his sister's forehead with his perfect little pointer finger (which he knows is a reminder that Jesus Loves You), and crept back out without a word.

Tonight I am thanking God once again that he chose me to be Mommy for these two amazing little humans.
