Friendly

While at the park the other day...

Dax (to a random boy playing near him): Do you want to go down the slide with me?
Boy: Sure!
Dax: You can go first.
Boy: I'm a nice boy.

Then, at the bottom of the slide...
Boy: What's your name?
Dax: Dax. (Then, prompted by us) What's your name?
Boy: Elijah.

Elijah was climbing back up the tube slide. Dax couldn't figured it out and decided to run to the steps and meet him at the top. After getting up there he looked around a bit, then spotted Elijah and said, "Oh there you are!"

They proceeded to play together for awhile before we had to leave the playground.

Dax can be so shy sometimes so it was really sweet to see him initiate a new friendship. Elijah turned out to be 5 and it was also good for Dax to explore the playground with an older child. We are excited to continue to provide social interactions that will help him grow and were glad to see his confidence and interest in making new friends.
