We headed out Saturday morning to begin our adventure. Both kids did awesome on the plane. Addy got a little tired as we were approaching nap time, but snuggled with Daddy and made it through the flight without any complaints.

| Denver! |
Once we got to the hotel, we picked up some lunch, relaxed a bit longer, realized that a real nap was not going to happen, and headed to the Denver zoo. It was a delightful visit and we saw a lot of incredible animals that we don't have here in MN (in the wild or at the zoos!).
When the kids started to show their exhaustion from a busy day, we cut the visit short and headed to dinner. We were blessed to meet up with our dear friend Jenny. She took us to a fun restaurant, Steubens, for delicious food and a great atmosphere. The highlight was Dax's milk flight - white, chocolate, and strawberry!
The next morning we got up, ate breakfast at the hotel, and headed to Colorado Springs. We met some more great friends, the Bensons, in the Garden of the Gods park for light hiking before lunch. While playing in a particularly rocky area, Dax said to Jake, "You told me there wasn't going to be a playground, but there is!" Is there anything better than truly enjoying nature?
That afternoon Dax swam for a bit with Jake while Addy tried to rest. The nap was a fail, but everyone was happy to head over to the Benson's house for dinner. We played in the yard, checked out Harvey and Gus' AMAZING play room (bummed I didn't take any pictures there!), and enjoyed a delicious spaghetti dinner with homemade meatballs. We could not have been happier than to spend that time with great friends we see way too rarely.
Monday morning we got up slowly and headed to the zoo in Colorado Springs. It is an incredible place, built into the side of a mountain. The views were amazing, the animals were close up, the kids were bonding even more, and the weather was gorgeous. It was a perfect morning!
We swam again that afternoon. Well, Dax and Jake swam again and this time Ellie and Eric joined them. Addy refused to put on her swimsuit so she and I were just observers. It sure looked like fun, though!
Tuesday morning we had time to eat breakfast and repack before heading back up to Denver. We used a little extra time to enjoy the weather at a playground, then returned our car and went back to the airport to go home.
