We started celebrating at a local church Trunk or Treat event. Dax was in awe of the other kids in costumes and eagerly pointed out all of the superheroes he spotted along the way. Both kids were hesitant to play the games, but they enjoyed collecting some candy and Dax was thrilled to spend a little time in the bounce house.
Then, we stopped at a nearby pumpkin patch and picked out the perfect ones to decorate. Dax designed a face for his jack-o-lantern, but was not interested in the actual carving, and Adelaide added a sticker face to hers.
The day before Halloween, I celebrated at school and Dax had a "pumpkins and pretend" party at his school to kick off the holiday weekend. Ads got into the spirit with a Halloween shirt for daycare.
We continued the festivities with pre-trick-or-treating at all of the grandparents' houses.
Finally, Dax and Addy donned their costumes one last time for evening trick-or-treating in our neighborhood. There were very few families out and about on our street (we only had 11 kids come to our door - eek!), which meant that everyone we visited was incredibly generous and excited to see us. We ran into a couple of kids from Dax's soccer team who we did not realize lived so close, saw lots of neighbors we hadn't seen in awhile, and collected some candy. Overall, a great evening!
Dax was thrilled to end his celebrating by helping pass out candy to a few trick-or-treaters before going to bed.
