* We had to wait quite awhile because they were running behind. Dax was so happy and sweet the whole time and LOVED being someplace somewhat unfamiliar.
* Dr. Oie (after watching Dax repeatedly crawl across the examination table to get her eyes/ears/throat checker): "Wow, he's fast. Do you have your house baby-proofed?"
Me (picturing him reaching under the sink for cleaning supplies, trying to crawl behind the toilet, rolling around under tables, digging in the recycling, etc...): "Ummm, we watch him closely." Oops!
* We were surprised to learn that Dax has his first ear infection. :( Dr. Oie assured us that we had caught it early enough that Dax probably wasn't showing any signs yet, but we still felt bad that we didn't know anything was wrong.
* His first ear infection also means he is on antibiotics for the first time and I got to try a smart idea I found on Pinterest. Is it nerdy that I got a little excited about this??

Just some food for thought. Our doctor suggested we don't always have to treat ear infections if they are going away on their own. Some ibuprofen can be given if there's pain and you can give it time. It's easy for me to suggest this because our guy's only had a couple. We treated the first one but not the second one, and the second went away on its own. The advantage is reducing the child's exposure to antibiotics, which will help reduce a a bacteria tolerance build up. Do with that info what you like :)
